Pig iron is unglamorous, heavy, and in everything. Foundations, frames, hulls - the whole edifice of an empire is quietly made of it.

The first mine is also the first real decision on a surface, because the pad it occupies is a pad nothing else will ever use.

What it does

Extracts pig iron, a solid raw material, with no prerequisites. It is required before you can raise a Crystal field or a Research lab, which makes it the true first building of a round.
